Vision

The vision of the Department of Budget and Strategic Planning is to assist the City Council, City Administration, and City Departments in delivering high quality programs and services to the citizens of Suffolk, developing and implementing financially sound operating and capital budgets and Capital Improvements Plans (CIP) that move the City forward, strategically serving as a valuable resource within the organization, promoting a fiscally responsible city government that is recognized for excellence in local government budgeting and service delivery.

Mission

The mission of the Department of Budget and Strategic Planning is to facilitate the development and preparation of the Annual Financial Plan and Capital Improvements Plan (CIP), monitor expenditures and revenues, conduct fiscal analyses, promote adherence to the City’s adopted financial policies and best financial management practices, collaborate with the Department of Finance in securing debt financing, and provide technical assistance, strategic planning, and performance measurement development services to all city government functions in support of service delivery and the advancement of City Council priorities to promote a high quality of life for the citizens of Suffolk.
